Organisational culture as a precondition for a supportive work environment

The Trade Union of Media of Montenegro (TUMM), in cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, organised the training “Supportive Work Environment in the Newsroom: Organisational Psychology, Teamwork and Burnout Prevention”, attended by editors and journalists from Montenegrin newsrooms.

Psychologist Dragana Đokić spoke about organisational culture and its impact on burnout syndrome.

Alongside practical exercises, she particularly highlighted the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy in the prevention and recovery from burnout. Participants also took part in a self-help group.

Journalist and editor Milorad Ivanović spoke about burnout syndrome in journalism and mechanisms for its early detection. He emphasised the importance of communication in reducing conflicts in the newsroom.

He also devoted part of the session to the impact of online attacks and hate speech on psychological well-being and provided recommendations on how to reduce these risks.

The training is part of the Psychological Support Service, which has been operating since 2022 with the support of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro.
